Back to Tours List

For nature lovers who want to get the opportunity to see a lot of wildlife, a tour to the pristine rainforests of the ‘Costa Rican mini Amazon’ is almost a must. Navigating through the narrow canals with the forest on touching distance, listening to the sounds coming from the jungle you will enjoy the presence of a lot of birds, monkeys, sloths, iguanas and more… On top of that Tortuguero is the most important nesting site of the Green sea turtle (season from July until October).

Day 1. From San José to Tortuguero.
Early in the morning (around 6.00 am) your guide will pick you up at your hotel in San José. A very scenic ride through the highlands of Braulio Carrillo national park will bring you onto the Caribbean side of the county. After about an hour from departure there is a first stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast.

Lunch will be served upon arrival. In the afternoon your guide will accompany you for an acquaintance with the village and its habitants. Additionally, in the months between July and October you may sign up for Turtle Watch tour in the night. Costs are $35 approximately.
