Early in the morning (around 6.00 am) your guide will picked you up at your hotel in San José. A very scenic ride through the highlands of Braulio Carrillo National Park will bring you to the Caribbean side of the county. After about an hour from departure there is a first stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast. An adventurous trip through extended banana plantations follows. At the end of the road boats are waiting for you to bring during a spectacular two hours ride to your lodge in Tortuguero. Lunch will be served upon arrival. In the afternoon your guide will accompany you for an acquaintance with the village and its habitants. Additionally, in the months between July and October you may sign up for Turtle Watch tour in the night. Costs are $35 approximately.

After breakfast your guide takes you by boat through the famous canals of the National Park will disclose other parts of the forest of Tortuguero. There are good opportunities to admire several species of wildlife, such as herons, toucans, king fishers, monkeys, iguanas, sloths, caimans and much more. In the afternoon, after lunch, your guide will take you for a hike through the jungle trails that surrounds the lodge en tells you about the plants and the animals that live here. The rest of the day is free to relax by the swimming pool or to stroll around and admire the tropical flowers, animals and bird.

In the morning after breakfast and check out you will make the trip back to San José by boat and bus. During the bus ride lunch will be served in a restaurant in Guápiles. From here you can continue directly to your hotel in San José or use this as a point to continue your travels or to rent a car and drive to the next exiting destination.
