Visitors to Costa Rica must have a valid passport as well as proof of their intent to exit the country before their visa or entry stamp expires, usually within 90 days. All non-resident travelers must possess a return ticket or a ticket as proof of when they intend to exit the country, commonly referred to as an outbound exit or onward ticket. An onward ticket is required of non-residents who are: Traveling on a one-way ticket, entering the country with a return ticket dated more than 90 days after arrival, or flying into Costa Rica and flying out of another country.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n

Costa Rica does not impose restrictions on Europeans or (Latin-) Americans travelling to the country. However it is fully recommendable to visit your medical doctor before your vacation and ask him or her if vaccinations are needed. Starting on July 30, 2007, the Costa Rican authorities will demand that all travelers from the following countries possess a yellow fever vaccination certificate: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Bolivia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and the Republic of Guyana.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n

This question is often related to the question: when are weather conditions best to travel to Costa Rica? Please note that the whole year around tourist come to Costa Rica to visit the country. It means that in the rainy season as well as in the dry season it is enjoyable to travel around the country. The Pacific side of the country has a pronounced dry season which runs from December until April (from May until November is the rainy season). The Caribbean side of the country has a more unpredictable climate: you may expect rainfall whole year around, with most rain in December and January and less in September and October). If you could avoid planning travelling on the Pacific side during the months of September and October, that would be recommended (please note that exactly in these months the weather shows itself from her best side on the Caribbean side!) <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n

More and more options are available at the menus in the restaurants for visitors who are vegetarian and vegan. This is specially the case in San Jos\u00e9 and the more visited places like Puerto Viejo, Manuel Antonio, La Fortuna and Monteverde. If you are staying in lodges outside the touristic centers you may get a bit disappointed about the offer.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n

The currency in Costa Rica is the colon but dollars are almost everywhere accepted (notes up to 20USD!). You may bring some cash to Costa Rica. There are plenty cash dispensers all over the country where you can get colones and (in some cases) dollars. It is not recommended to change money on the airport upon arrival as the exchange rates are not favorable. There is a cash dispenser available at the airport. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n
